plastic cover on waste bins

I cut the plastic bottle to get the bin.Removed the top part with the lid.Used the lower half for the bin. Then used this plastic cover which i had.I loved the pattern of black and red checks on them so i had saved it up to use later. And I used it on the bin. I cut out the black and red checks from the cover and attached it on the bin with glue.I love the outcome.

Onion bags

We use a lots of onions in cooking as a rsult I ended up with lots of empty plastic onion bags.I found out two good ways to put them to use.
I forgot to get the dishwashing scrubber during our weekend shopping.I had to do my dishes. So I tried using this onion bag.I wadded up the mesh bag and secured it with a rubberband. And guess what it works great.
I use it as a soap holder plus scrubber. I guess I can even use it as a loofah sponge for the bath.Havent tried that..but i think it would work fine. These mesh bags are perfect for laundering lingerie, socks, booties, and other small items.

Onion bags decor on waste bins

I used this plastic mesh onion bags for one of my waste bin.The material is plastic.I had two colors one in green and other in red.Thought of using both.
I removed the top of the bottle and covered the lower half with the red onion bag.Used the green onion bag and a paper bag handle to give the final touches.

Fabric on waste bins

I used an old table cover and a left over material to make this.Took the measurement of the bottle and cut the material to fit.Used glue to attach everything together. Now I have a bin in all the rooms.

Mehendi

This mehendi was a sheer accident.when we had gone for a weekend shppoing my 3 year old found this ice box which held mehendi cones.Coz it was cold he assumed its icecream and started to throw tantrums saying he wanted it.I tied to explain it him that its for girls and they use it to decorate their palms. But as usual reasoning was beyond point. So we finally brought it.By the time we reached home my lil guy was so engrossed in his new toy that he forgot about the mehendi. After a day or two while he was inspecting the refrigirator he came across this cone.By this time he knew that its not an icecream. Now the next thing was he wanted me to apply them on his hand.He wanted me to draw all the automobiles he could think of.From cars, trucks ,airoplanes to trains and ships. And to my amazment he held his hand for the next one hour.I was really shocked and surprised.I have never seen him doing a thing for more than 2 minutes. And after an hour i told him its ok to wash now.He was reluctant at first then did it anyway.I should have taken a pic then but it never came to my mind.Again after a week or so my lil one wanted a design on his other hand.Again all the transportation in the world. This time he dint have the patience..and washed it after a minute. And was pretty disapointed by the results. Now he wanted me to apply them on my hands.Thats how I ended up doing this....

Emboss painting

Emboss painting is an innovative medium to craft an image. It’s basically done on cloth. This sort of painting can be a learning step for many budding painters who want to see their paintings on the canvass. This form of painting excites the visual senses as well as it motivates and encourages the sense of creativity within an individual. Embossing generally provides an image with a 3D character by raising the surface of the cloth upwards. I did my first emboss painting 10 years ago.I dont have that painting with me now ..but would make sure I bring it with me when I go back to India. That one was a shakuntala with a mud pot by the river side. I had loved doing my first emboss painting..so I brought my 2nd and 3rd last year.Emboss Painting is certainly the most charming and creative of all paintings.. it has a different feel to it .. a sense of creation .. and pride of seeing things your way. After experimenting on the three pictures now I want to learn embossing on cloth and paper.I would be working on that soon. That way I can do my own designs. The below painting has been done using emboss painting kit . The kit includes the design already printed on a velvet cloth along with colors to paint it and photo of the design. The procedure is before painting is to place the velvet cloth on a thick bedsheet.Make sure that the design is facing downwords. Now iron the top..that is the plain side.Make sure that the iron is hot only then the design would emboss fully. Remove the cloth when the whole design is embossed. Now start painting it with the color combinations of your choice or can go by the one given in the kit.Once done allow it for drying and later frame it.

Fruits holder out of plastic bottle

I used the bottom of a plastic bottle to make this.I cut the top in petal shapes. As the bottle was a light blue I thought of giving it a darker blue finishing touches.
I drew shapes using a marker and filled it up with acrylic.I dint use any specific pattern, just used some random shapes that came to mind.

wastebins out of plastic bottles

PET plastic is the most common for single-use bottled beverages, because it is inexpensive, lightweight and easy to recycle. It poses low risk of leaching breakdown products. Recycling rates remain relatively low (around 20%), though the material is in high demand by remanufacturers. This is very easy to make waste bins. What I did is I cut off the top of the bottle.I poked a hole witt a knife and used scissors to cut the remaining area.I made one bin for each room. I just played with paint on this bottle...without any specific design or pattern.

Plastic bottle flowers-bottom

We live in the middle east and my hubby doesnt trust the big water gallons which is refilled.
So we buy water bottles. As a result, I always have an enormous collection of plastic water bottles.Initially I used to throw them. Then the idea of recyclying stuck me.Then the next thing was browsing www.These bottles can be turned into funnels, weights, bowling sets, pencil cups, drawer organizers, vases and even board game pieces. I’m always on the lookout for crafty ways to reuse my bottles.
The first thing which I made is plastic bottle flowers. Its a very easy and fun to make.Cut the base off a plastic bottle. This might be a bit tough so what i did is make a cut with a knife then use scissors. Be careful not to stab yourself!! Cut within the grooves of the bottle. This will form the petals of the flower. As I used a big bottle it has lots of petals.
But i guess with different bottle designs there will be a different number of grooves. Just experiment!
Then I painted each flower with acrylic paint.I wanted to try metalic shades..would be doing it in metalic next.I joined all the three flowers together on a string using a needle and attached 2 leaves in between. The leaves too has been made out of the same bottles.I used the middle of the bottle to make them.Drew a outline on the bottle using a marker and cut it out using scissors.

Paper beads

Making paper beads is a great way to recycle all sorts of papers ... newspapers, or magazines and it's the most inexpensive way to make beads. To either make beads from pre-designed paper or to design your own using white paper and markers. Once i started making these...it was so much fun..cudnt stop..i kept experimenting on various papers..and on various shapes.Planning to make a curtain out of it..Once that is done ..would post it here. Its very easy to make..u just have to cut stips out of paper and roll them onto a toothpick.. Newspaper beads

Carry bag base

The base is from an old used carry bag.Its the hard surface that usually comes with carry bag.It has a plastic covering over the hard core.
This one was black..and whenever I see black the first colour that comes to my mind is silver. So i drew this design on it using a silver glitter pen. Then filled up the design in silver. For the border I used a silver lace.Added a stone at the center.

Tissue box

This is an inspiration from art attack which runs on disney channel. In that he had done cartoon characters over the tissue box.But I thought I will give it a classic touch. I used cardboad sheet to form the box.First have to fold the cardboard in such a way that it has three sides. And on the top have to make the slit through which we can pull the tissues out.The sides of the box has to be done in the same way we pack a gift with wrapper. I had an old cushion cover with me.I used that material and the lace on them as border to give the finishing touches.I added a little bow on top to give it a better look. The two flowers with the bow is from an old greeting card.I had a feeling it mite look odd because of its colour but ....not bad.

out of a cardboard cake base

This has been made out of a cake base.A normal cardboard base which was wrapped with aluminium foil.Just drew a picture and gave the finishing touches with water colour. < Honestly I am not satisfied with the finishing but posted it anyway.

Wall hanging out of a take away tray

This was a plastic tray which comes along with a take away.I drew a picture on a normal A4 size paper then gave it some finishing touches with water colour. Then cut it to fit in the tray. The border has been done using a marker. The actual picture was a radha - krishna romance in the jungle. But while giving the finishing touches...radha somehow wasnt looking like herself..So I changed her to meera bhai. A close up of the picture.
